The Business of Learning Conference 2011

Over seventy people attended the third annual business of learning conference which took place at The Lights on the morning of Tuesday 22nd March 2011.

The Business of Learning is an important part of Andover Vision’s drive to get local businesses to work in partnership with local schools and Andover College.

3 yrs of partnerships

Over the last three years, businesses have done a great job in forming partnerships with Andover schools for their mutual benefit and at the same time raising ambitions and contributing to young people’s learning. The conference is an opportunity to celebrate progress achieved so far and to encourage others to get involved and develop new relationships.

Head Teacher of Portway Junior School said "The Junior Graduation ceremony is an excellent initiative, which makes a real difference to pupils, their parents and the community. We do a lot of talking about raising aspirations but this is one of the few initiatives that actually does something about it. It is a great idea and one, which I hope, will continue for a long time."

The conference is organised by Andover Vision, First Partnership and Test Valley Borough Council and was introduced by Principal of Sparsholt College, Tim Jackson. It featured guest speaker Andy Halpin from Co-Operative Food who are currently moving in to Andover.
