An initiative of Sue Sheppard, Andover Vision Manager, Sue was keen to show how the cinema can be used for the benefit of the community. Sue said “This is the first event of its kind in Andover and I hope it inspires others to use this great facility to host many more”. REEL Cinemas opened in Andover on Friday 13th June 2008 and are keen to support local events and charities. Operations Manager, Muhammad Faisal said “being part of the community is the ethos behind REEL, we are delighted to work with Andover Vision and host this special event”.
he Event
Over 100 local people attended this special evening, they dressed up in true Bond style, in their black ties and cocktail dresses. On arrival, they were greeted with a glass of champagne and canapes. Local resident, Mark Greene said "I throughly enjoyed the event and was pleased to raise money for this worthwhile charity in such an entertaining way".
A cheque was later presented to Lorraine Burlison, Manager of Andover Young Carers.
The Charity
Andover Young Carers provide a range of practical and emotional support to Young Carers through counselling, activities, life skills, after school clubs, outings, advocacy, one to one support and signposting. Lorena Burlison, Project Manager, ensures that the Young Carers have the best possible life chances following an assessment of individual needs and provides appropriate respite for them . This event not only raises much needed funds for our Young Carers but also awareness of the plight of these children and young people.
The Film
Quantum of Solace is the 22nd Bond Film, the sequel to Casino Royale and features Daniel Craig’s second performance as James Bond. In the film Bond battles Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist who intends to stage a coup d’etat in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd and is assisted by Camille (Olga Kurylenko) who also wants to kill Greene
